LOS OSOS HIGH SCHOOL
ENGLISH LEARNER ADVISORY COMMITTEE (ELAC)

What is ELAC?
ELAC is a committee consisting mainly of parents of students whose first language is not English, and of those members of the community who reside or work in the service area of the school.  Other members include teachers and staff from Ontario High School.

What is the purpose of ELAC?
ELAC was established for the purpose of allowing committee members to participate in the education of the students whose first language is not English, and to advise the principal and other members of the school regarding programs and services for English Learners.

How do we benefit from ELAC?
In order to receive benefits from ELAC, it is very important for parents of students in the EL program to actively participate, remain informed about school activities, and attend meetings.

Parent involvement will not only support students academically, but it will also help to build self-esteem of our students and encourage students to become successful members of society.

Being a member of ELAC provides parents with the opportunity to become familiar with the academic programs of the school, and allows parents to have a voice in the development of the programs that are offered by the school.
